By default, file name extensions for known file types are hidden. To See All File Extensions in the Desktop and Windows Explorer, follow this:
* Click Start, Control Panel
* Double-click Folder Options
* Click the View tab
* Uncheck the Hide extensions for known file types check box
* Click OK
